IALJS 1 2006 Conference
1st International Conference on
Held in the eastern French city of Nancy in 2006, the conference was ostensibly devoted to celebrating the centenary of Upton Sinclair's The Jungle (1906). Yet the general focus of the conference--its papers and roundtable--was to help define the various problems facing practitioners and scholars of literary journalism today and how those problems could best be addressed in the academic world today.
IALJS was born from the lively debate generated in the conference papers. To see the May 2006 conference, click on the program on the left.
